8 Artists To Watch Out For In 2024!

With the glimmering promise of a brand new year, comes the inevitable predictions of who will make it big in 2024!

But whilst in the past such lists have successfully foretold the fates of some of todays biggest stars, in the digital age, with so many new voices, and so much new music launched week upon week, it can be hard to keep up with what’s considered hot, and what’s considered not, in the world of pop.

So, in a bid to help you, our ever loyal readers out, here are 8 musical acts we think you’re going LOVE listening to over the course of the next 12 months…

The Last Dinner Party are a British indie rock band, made up of Abigail Morris (vocals), Lizzie Mayland (vocals, guitar), Emily Roberts (lead guitar, mandolin, flute), Georgia Davies (bass), and Aurora Nishevci (keys, vocals).

Originally formed in 2021, and signed to Island Records, the fierce five-some bagged support slots opening up for the likes of The Rolling Stones and Nick Cave at various festivals throughout 2022, before releasing their debut single ‘Nothing Matters’ in April 2023. Produced by James Ford (Arctic Monkeys, Haim, Blur), the unapologetically sensual, quirky pop track instantly stole the hearts of fans, and won universal praise from critics who applauded the ladies for their innovative, left-field musical style, elaborate melodic arrangements, and brutally honest lyrics.

Follow up releases ‘Sinner’, ‘My Lady of Mercy’, and ‘On Your Side’ garnered further acclaim, and in December last year, the band were crowned the winners of the prestigious BRITs Rising Star Award, supported by BBC Radio 1.

The quintets debut studio album, ‘Prelude to Ecstasy’ is scheduled for release Friday, February 2nd 2024.

Hailing from Miami, Florida, rising alternative R&B recording artist Ed. pulls from an extensive mix of varying musical styles and genres, to create a fresh, captivating sound that looks set to resonate with music lovers around the world in 2024, and beyond.

With the release of his debut single, ’Live Yours’ last November, the multi-talented musician hit the scene hard, delivering a daring, and bold sonic opus that came correct with progressive production and strong social messages, encouraging those unsure of their place in the world, to express themselves as honestly and authentically as possible, no matter what resistance or adversity they may face.

Produced by Darkchild protégé Jack Lawson (SZA, Alex Vaugh, Blxst, Ty Dolla $ign) and mixed by Denis Koziak (Khalid, Majid Jordan, Lil Durk), the experimental track blended off-kilter R&B sounds with cadences of “psychedelic sonics”, and undertones of high-energy Hip-Hop to create an audacious, avant-garde, stone cold groove that exuded a sense of both freedom and truth.

Currently residing between London and LA, Ed. promises to take fans on a “cosmic  journey” later in the year with the release of his debut EP.

RIIZE

Launched by powerhouse Korean Entertainment company SM Entertainment in the summer of 2023, K-pop supergroup RIIZE are SHOTARO, EUNSEOK, SUNGCHAN, WONBIN, SOHEE, and ANTON.

As an insanely talented, and musically gifted collective, who proudly celebrate each others individual abilities and characters, the bands name combines two words – “rise” symbolising growth, and “realize” representing achievements – which when put together encapsulates the ideology of a team of people growing together as one, whilst in pursuit of chasing their dreams.

Following the release of a string of super successful singles late last year, the band are set to return on Friday January 5th 2023 with the launch of their latest track ‘Love 119’.

Kingfishr

Irish indie-folk trio Kingfishr are a band with a penchant for crafting hauntingly beautiful, melodic pop songs that touch the hearts and souls of millions.

Formed as teens whilst studying at university in Limerick, the group (made up of Eogan “McGoo” McGrath, Edmond Keogh and Eoin Fitzgibbons) unapologetically lean into their heritage, incorporating traditional Celtic instruments, evocative melodies, and poetic lyrics to produce music that aims to highlight and emphasise the human experience.

Although still relatively new on the scene, the band have supported Bruce Springsteen at BST Hyde Park, George Ezra and Dermot Kennedy, and to date have amassed close to 10 million streams on Spotify.

Gia Ford

Discovered on Instagram, and subsequently snapped up by Dirty Hit (The 1975, Wolf Alice, Rina Sawayama) on the strength of a 60-second, vocal-only recording, alternative pop visionary Gia Ford has spent the last four years churning out dark, atmospheric indie-dance tunes inspired by fictional characters featured in some of her favourite books and films.

With the release of her debut EP ‘POSTER BOY’, the Sheffield born singer/songwriter defied industry trends to produce a stellar collection of unique pop bops that showcased not only her powerful voice, but also her experimental creative side.

Ford’s debut album is due to be released later this year.

Born out of the ashes of a previous band, Carpark are Sophie ScottHattie Upton-Dance, and Lauren O’Donnell Anderson; three bad ass chicks on a mission to rip up the rule book and re-write the now old fashioned narrative of what a rock band ‘should be’.

Weaving together “nostalgia, power, and infectious melodies” to create a unique style and sound all of their own, since bursting onto the scene the band have received support and praise from the likes of BBC Radio 1’s Jack Saunders, DJ Nels Hylton, and global streaming platform Spotify, who included the girls second single ‘Not The Perfect Start’ on their prestigious New Music Friday UK playlist.

Despite having only played their first ever live show two years ago – ironically, in a friends garage – Sophie, Hattie and Lauren have been busy cutting their teeth on the live scene, supporting the likes of Lauren HibberdKelsy Karter and Beth McCarthy, and performing at various festival up and down the country.

In 2022 they released their debut EP ‘The World Ended In 2012’, which to date has racked up over 150k streams on Spotify alone!

Fun, relatable, and utterly refreshing, Carpark are exactly the kind of band our generation NEEDS!

Fred Roberts

20-year-old British songwriter Fred Roberts arrives as part of a generation facing unprecedented modern-day pressures.

Using creativity as a way to make sense of the world in which we live in, Fred says he wants to “ignite a youthful freedom into the state of play”, and hopes that through his exposing lyricism and energetic musicianship, he might be able empower those coming-of-age who are struggling to find their feet under the weight of the world.

Both anthemic and introspective, Roberts music is the work of a young gay artist thinking hard about his past, and writing songs that, in the future, will help others make sense of the tumult of “modern-day growing up and reckoning with your identity”.

Lo Lauren

Rising songstress Lo Lauren spent much of 2023 making her presence felt on the British music scene, with her unique brand of sophisticated pop garnering over a 100,000 streams online, and grabbing the attention of publications including WONDERLAND and NOTION.

Her debut single ‘Never The One’ was seized by BBC Radio with Radio 1’s Mollie King giving it an incredible two spins on her ‘Future Pop’ show, and Maia Beth adding to that with her own. Fellow BBC presenter, Abbie McCarthy, made the song her ‘Track of the Week’ on BBC Introducing Kent and described it as pure “pop perfection”.
